Roberto Giobbi became famous for his book pentalogy Card College, which has become the most sought-after source for studying card magic from the beginning to advanced techniques and spells.

His second book series, Card College Light, offers a different perspective on card magic. All three books contain what are called "self-working" effects, which require almost no manipulation to perform. In addition, the tricks are accompanied by valuable tips for performing them, which turn these otherwise simple tricks into powerful effects.

The first volume in this series, Card College Light, contains 21 card magic tricks arranged into seven full routines. This structure is intended to show the reader which type of effects are appropriate to begin a performance with ("opener"), which are appropriate to place in the middle, and most importantly, those effects that are best to end a show with ("closer").
