Alexander Calder was an influential artist famous for his mobiles and kinetic sculptures. He was also a great painter. Art of Play used his work from the Card Player series, the Calder Playing Cards.
Some cards are direct reproductions of Calder’s paintings, including the back design. The indices feature Calder’s handwriting. The Jack, Queens, and Kings were taken from Calder’s other work.
The Ace of Clubs, Hearts, and Diamonds have "1" instead of the classic "A" index.
Each deck includes a Twelve of Spades and a Sixteen of Diamonds.
