Five cards and the spectator’s free choice of one of them. Yet, you always guess exactly which card they chose.

Max Maven was a renowned mentalist. In addition to classic mentalism routines, he also created mental card tricks, such as PSI-CON Ruse.

In this routine, the spectator shuffles the deck, from which the top five cards are then taken. The magician places them in a book, and the spectator chooses one of them. The magician turns over the unselected cards to show which cards the spectator could have chosen.

The card they chose turns out to be the Four of Clubs. When the spectator opens the envelope, which has been lying on the table the whole time, they find the magician’s prediction inside—the Four of Clubs!

Max Maven used a book for this trick in his performances. However, in the included tutorial, you’ll also learn versions using only a deck of cards or a wallet.

The package includes gimmicked cards with the blue Bicycle Rider Back design.
