Master the Magic of Stripper Deck

Stripper deck is one of the three most used magic trick decks. It looks like a standard deck of cards, but it hides a powerful secret.

Many know just the basic effect you can do with this deck, but there is so much more. And we will show and teach you!

We released a massive project on the stripper deck over at the Butterfly Magic Club.

Let's find out what you can learn!

Introduction to the Stripper Deck

There are three fundamental trick decks in magic - Svengali, Invisible, and Stripper decks.

Most magicians are familiar with them. One reason is that they are often included in kids' magic sets. And in those, only the basic effect is usually explained.

What is that basic effect? The spectator's card is stripped out of the deck. That's also where the name for the deck comes from, this one effect/action. The correct name for it is actually the tapered deck.

It's one of the "killers" of this deck. Many learn this one effect, and then put the stripper deck aside, or it ends up in the "bottomless" drawer of magic every magician has.

And that is a shame, because it is such a powerful tool. It looks just like a standard deck of cards, and there is nothing suspicious about it. Spectators can look at it, take it in their hands, and even shuffle it. The secret hides in plain sight.

There is so much you can do with this deck. That's why our founder, Ondrej Psenicka, put together a two-hour project to teach you basically everything he knows about the stripper deck.

The Stripper Deck Project

Six chapters, over two hours of detailed instructions, dozens of tricks, techniques, subtleties, and more.

Here is what you will learn from this project:

  • Part 1 - Magic Effects
    • Ondrej explains two of his most performed effects - Toledo Cut and Inner Turner. In Toledo Cut, the chosen card is found with a card inserted into the deck without the magician looking at it. The Inner Turner is a display of skill, where the chosen four-of-a-kind ends up face-down in a completely face-up deck, after the magician has shuffled the deck multiple times without looking at it.
  • Part 2 - In the Hands Deck Reversals
    • Being able to secretly reverse a deck is extremely useful when performing with the stripper deck and with one-way cards. These techniques are done in the hands.
  • Part 3 - Hands Off Deck Reversals
    • These deck reversal techniques use various psychological techniques, allowing you to reverse a tabled deck.
  • Part 4 - Other Stripper Decks (1/2)
    • The most common version of the stripper deck is the side stripper deck. There are more variations, which Ondrej explores in this part.
  • Part 5 - Other Stripper Decks (2/2)
    • An exploration of the more deceptive variations of the stripper deck. Here you will learn Ondrej's version of the Out of This World routine, which is done immediately after another trick, without a deck switch.
  • Part 6 - Universal Stripper Deck
    • Building on the principle behind the stripper deck, Ondrej developed a routine that can be adjusted for any situation or occasion. It still uses cards, but does not feel like a standard card trick. It can help you create a deeper connection with your audience.
